Formichetti's gone Gaga

The above video is Formichetti's for Mugler A/W11 final presentation and it features his muse Lady Gaga as the backing track.
That is not the surprise however as it is more his eerily dark concept of using the heavily tattooed man named Rico in this film and in some shots. It seems Formichetti is bringing the 21st Century to Mugler and personally I love it.

The use of tattooed models has only increased and seeing this has it reached it's pinicle? Where do we go from here?  There is already another campaign (I am sorry I am desparately trying to find it/remember where I saw it!) showing a girl with tattoos plus also excessively large flesh tunnels.  It seems we really are going against the grain and I say, personally, bring it on.

Chip on your shoulder

Due to the fact I have been mainly looking at photographic techniques for my FMP so far, I realised how am I going to bring it back to fashion and to create a styling shoot?
So, I researched other shoots that used restriction/morphing of the body as a concept to see the direction I could take my own.
I came across a stylist called Lauren Boyle, who is the editor of up and coming magazine Dis Magazine.  She directed a shoot taking key pieces from S/S10 and transforming the models bone structure of their shoulders to fit in with the new season shapes.  This was to highlight the growing obsession for women to have surgical techniques to literally morph their shoulders to fit into the items of clothing.  For me it is such an inspirational shoot to go into my research folder.

Couture shoot behing the scenes!

Below are some of the behind the scene shots from todays shoot of Joanne Fleming's creations.  It was such a great shoot, especially because it is something that I haven't done alot of.  Hair and make-up looked amazing! We had some fun but shame time ran out!

We also did a sneaky mini shoot for Elli's hair competition with model novice Joe who turned out to be a natural :)

Amazing graphic look

Such a beautiful gown it would make anyone want to get married

Joe and his modelling debut, loving the corset feature of this Diesel blazer

Last look of Cyan

Couture Shoot!

I was asked to style a couture shoot yesterday for tomorrow so today I've been busy in London trying to find accessories for the dresses being donated by www.joanneflemingdesign.com who designs and makes vintage inspired dresses.  Portobello HAD to be visited of course, I could spend my entire life there, along with all of my money, maybe one day I'll be a "little" old lady who owns an antique shop there?!
I found these little beauts which will set off the dresses very nicely!

Look forward to showing you the results!

For my final major project (FMP) I've been looking into unusual photographic techniques influenced by my earlier project in which I used a pin hole camera and the exhibition Shadow Catchers.  This exhibition was AMAZING. I learnt so much about camera-less photography and how photography can be artistic in the usual sense.  There are 5 artists on show with their work exploring the manipulation of light by casting shadows or using chemicals, some of my favourite pieces are shown below:

Floris Neususs

Garry Fabian Miller

Adam Fuss

I learnt so much from this exhibition, from techniques to reasoning.  I'm really interested in looking into Adam Fuss' work and his techniques as I think this will really benefit my final outcomes.  I'm also looking into purchasing cameras which have unconventional effects such as the Golden Half Camera which only takes half a frame per photo which results in....
